Frederic C. Johannsen

Partner, Frederic C. Johannsen is a graduate of the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy. A Certified Public Accountant in Oregon and a member of both the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Mr. Johannsen became a partner in 1982 and has worked closely with clients in accounting and tax issues. Mr. Johannsen has had the privilege to hold many positions in the community during the past thirty years. Christopher V. Dye

Partner, Mr. Dye is a graduate of Southern Oregon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy. Mr. Dye is the partner in charge for each audit and has considerable experience with municipal and nonprofit audits. A Certified Public Accountant in Oregon and a member of both the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Mr. Dye is a licensed municipal auditor in the state of Oregon and meets all requirements for audits of states, local governments and nonprofit organizations. Experience includes all areas of practice - audits of governmental and nonprofit entities, A-133 compliance audits, tax, and consulting. Mr. Dye has many years of experience auditing municipal and nonprofit organizations and has considerable "hands on" experience with the specific accounting and reporting challenges that such organizations and their finance directors must face.

Prior to opening his own practice and joining Johannsen, Dye & Purkeypile CPAs LLP, Mr. Dye had the opportunity to work at both a large local CPA firm and the local office of a large regional CPA firm. Mr. Dye joined Johannsen, Dye & Purkeypile as a partner in 2003. Mr. Dye's experience includes working with many different types and sizes of organizations as an audit manager and as an audit partner in charge. In addition, Mr. Dye has the experience of auditing a large number of municipalities and nonprofit organizations subject to Minimum Standards for Audits of Oregon Municipal Corporations, Government Auditing Standards, and A-133 compliance audit requirements. Mr. Dye has a strong background in federal grant auditing and single audit compliance. All of his governmental auditing experience has been within the state of Oregon.

Mr. Dye has a strong background in tax services and consulting for many local businesses in Southern Oregon.

Mr. Dye currently volunteers his time to serve as treasurer for Living Opportunities Inc., a local nonprofit organization that provides services for individuals with developmental disabilities. chris@jdpcpas.com


Gerry Horowitz, CPA

Gerry Horowitz is a 1980 cum laud graduate of Arizona State University. A certified public accountant in Oregon and Arizona specializing in tax problem resolution, business planning and consulting, tax issues especially business acquisition, mergers and business sales, real estate transactions. He has owned several businesses including CPA firms.  He and his wife of 40 years moved to Medford in January 2016 after selling his CPA practice in Flagstaff AZ and taking a year off. He joined the distinguished firm of Johannsen, Dye & Purkeypile, CPAs, LLP in Medford in 2016.

Gerry Horowitz, CPA is has extensive speaking experience and is interested in speaking to your group on tax law, personal financial, business and tax planning and compliance for real estate investors, rental property owners, contractors and other business groups. His experience includes over thirty years in real estate, construction, large restaurants, business planning, and taxation. He has spoken to many groups over the years from as large as 500 people to fewer than 20 people. Some of the groups that he has spoken to include SCORE (500+ people), The Arizona Society of Women Accountants (100+ people), The Southern Oregon Rental Owners Association (SOROA), The Northern Arizona Association of REALTORS, The Northern Arizona Home Builders Association and various other groups. He has also been published in national publications and has appeared on radio.

Trudy Brown

Senior staff accountant, payroll department manager and office manager. Ms. Brown attended Southern Oregon University. She joined the firm in 1980 and has over thirty years of experience in accounting and financial statement preparations for numerous and diverse business entities. She also has aquired over these years a broad and comprehensive knowledge in all areas of payroll preparation and processing. In addition, she performs a multitude of administrative and supervisory services for the firm.

Our History

Our firm was founded by Robert W. Purkeypile in September, 1973. Frederic C. Johannsen joined the firm as a partner in 1982. Christopher V. Dye joined the firm as a partner in 2003.
